American conductor, Anoa Green, is swiftly solidifying her reputation as a dynamic force both on and off the podium. With vulnerability, versatility, clarity, and grace; she leads ensembles and captivates audiences in profound musical experiences with a focus on innovation and inclusion.

Originally hailing from, and serving, the charming city of Baltimore, Anoa began her musical life with piano, clarinet and voice. She possesses a fierce devotion to serving underrepresented communities, and to breaking down barriers in the realm of classical music. As such, Anoa has devoted herself to the position of Wind Studies Chair at the prestigious Baltimore School for the Arts since 2011.

As a black woman, Anoa has encountered numerous obstacles. Her relentless determination has led her down a path of unique opportunities, where she now thrives as a freelance conductor – crafting unique musical experiences.

Amongst Anoa’s recent triumphs are her standout performances as conductor for the OkMEA All-State Senior Orchestra in 2024, as well as her NY debut appearance with the United Nations Symphony Orchestra in its „Global Women in Music“ inaugural concert.

Anoa honed her craft at Pacific Northwest Conducting Institute under the guidance of Diane Wittry and Anna Edwards in 2022. Amongst other notable conducting institutes, Anoa has had foundational orchestral training at the Medomak Conducting Retreat led by Kenneth Kiesler.

Equipped with a solid educational foundation, Anoa obtained a BM from Northwestern University in 2004, followed by an MM from Boston University in 2016.

Noteworthy honors include the Allentown Symphony Orchestra Fellowship in 2023, Maryland Arts Council Grant in 2023, in the same year, and the Patricia Joseph Professional Development Award bestowed upon her by the Baltimore School for the Arts in 2022.

During her leisure time away from conducting, Anoa takes pleasure in spending time with her family and friends, going to comedy shows, cooking soup, and tending to her summer vegetable garden.
