Katerina Dankevich | pura musica artists

A dramatic soprano of compelling power and presence, Katerina Dankevich belongs to that rare category of singers whose voice announces its nature early: rich, full and focused, with a natural affinity for the great repertoire of her fach. Born in Kyiv, Ukraine, she moved to Vienna at the age of four, and it is there that her voice and musical identity have been formed.

She has been studying voice at the Joseph Haydn Private University in Eisenstadt since 2021. From 2023 to 2025, she was a member of the Chorakademie der Wiener Staatsoper, where she gained valuable experience within one of the world’s leading opera houses.

In 2024, she was a finalist in both the Elīna Garanča Zukunftsstimmen competition and the Hans Staud Music Prize in Vienna — an unusual double distinction for a singer still in training. In the same year, she appeared at the Bayreuth Festival as a member of the festival and extra chorus in Wagner’s Tannhauser, a rare opportunity for a singer at her career stage.

Stage credits include Gertrude in Humperdinck’s Hansel und Gretel in 2024, and Mary Magdalene in Jacob de Haan’s Markus Passion in 2025. In July 2025, she covered the role of Flora Bervoix in Verdi’s La Traviata at Oper Burg Gars. In November 2025, she made her debut as alto soloist in Verdi’s Requiem in Graz.

Future engagements include her debut as Marcellina in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro at Schlossfest Walpersdorf in summer 2026.

Katerina Dankevich is a rare young voice with genuine dramatic potential, combining vocal power with musical integrity and a repertoire that already points toward the great dramatic roles.
