Virginie Déjos is a pianist and conductor whose work spans opera, symphonic repertoire, choral conducting, and chamber music. She is particularly recognized for her expertise as a répétiteur with conducting responsibilities and as a choir director at leading European opera houses.
She studied piano at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, where she obtained a Master of Music in Piano Performance with high distinction under Evgeny Mogilevsky. She continued her training in conducting at the École Normale de Musique de Paris and completed a doctorate at Paris Sorbonne University, where she was also active as a lecturer.
From 2015 to 2017, Virginie Déjos worked with Radio France as musical assistant for the choir. During this period, she received prizes at the International Scriabin Competition, the Piano Competition of Île-de-France, and the International Lied and Mélodie Competition in Gordes with soprano Déborah Attal. In 2016, she was awarded a scholarship from the Paris Cercle Wagner.
Between 2017 and 2019, she was engaged as vocal coach with conducting duties at Theater Lübeck. From 2019 to 2023, she held the same position at the Staatsoper Stuttgart, where she collaborated with numerous internationally renowned conductors and participated in opera productions, concert projects, and major festivals. Alongside this engagement, she maintained an active career as a pianist, appearing regularly at international venues and festivals, including the Ruhrtriennale from 2021 to 2023.
Her conducting activity includes symphonic and operatic repertoire. She has conducted choral and orchestral concerts in Paris, premiered Rémi Guillard’s Requiem at La Madeleine, and led stage productions of Britten’s The Little Sweep, Weill’s Der Jasager, Wagner’s Das Rheingold, and Glass’s Les Enfants terribles at the Stuttgart Opera.
In 2023, Virginie Déjos was appointed Choir Director and conductor at Theater Heidelberg. During the 2024–2025 season, she worked as guest Choir Director at Oper Frankfurt. In 2025, she was engaged as a repetiteur with the Dutch Radio Choir and joined the Bayreuth Festival as musical assistant for the choir.
For the 2025–2026 season, she has been appointed Choir Director and conductor at the Opéra National de Lille, as well as Choir Director at the Opéra National de Lorraine. In 2026, she will also serve as solo repetiteur at the Staatsoper Berlin.
Alongside her operatic and conducting career, Virginie Déjos continues an active international presence as a pianist and chamber musician. Her performances have been broadcast by BR Klassik and LRT Lithuanian Radio and Television. Since 2021, she has been particularly committed to the promotion of French repertoire, founding a chamber music festival in Stuttgart in collaboration with the Institut Français and recording works by French composers with members of the Staatsorchester Stuttgart.
