Danish-born conductor Anne Marie Granau, recipient of the 2014 Grethe Kolbe Mindelegat, is quickly establishing herself as a versatile and accomplished conductor across a broad spectrum of repertoire.
Equally dedicated to symphonic, operatic, and contemporary music, Anne Marie has collaborated with some of Denmark’s leading orchestras and ensembles, including Aarhus Symphony Orchestra, Aalborg Symphony Orchestra, the South Denmark Philharmonic, the Royal Danish Opera Orchestra, the Danish Chamber Orchestra, Athelas Sinfonietta, Den Jyske Opera, and the Danish Chamber Players. Internationally, she has conducted the British Youth Opera in the UK and worked with the St. Petersburg Chamber Philharmonic in Russia.
Recent highlights include her debut at Malmö Opera in Sweden in January 2024 with the production Vinteryra. In August 2023, she led several performances of Puccini’s Suor Angelica at the Copenhagen Opera Festival.
Earlier in 2023, she recorded two albums with the Danish Chamber Players for Naxos and Dacapo Records. 2024 marked her debut with the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra. From 2010 to 2014, she served as assistant conductor at the Royal Danish Opera.
Her education includes a postgraduate diploma in orchestral conducting from the Royal College of Music in London, where she was awarded the Templeton Scholarship and studied with Neil Thomson, as well as a postgraduate diploma in choral conducting from the Royal Danish Academy of Music, studying under Dan-Olof Stenlund and Frans Rasmussen.
