Anuka Maria Lässig was born in Berlin and began cello lessons at the age of three with Sybille König at the Béla Bartók Music School in Berlin-Pankow. At just four years old, she gave her first public performance at Schloss Niederschönhausen and made her debut as a soloist with an orchestra at the age of nine.
When she was ten, Anuka Maria started studying with Prof. Kleif Carnarius, the principal solo cellist of the Komische Oper Berlin, who remains her teacher to this day.
At eleven, she was awarded a scholarship for highly gifted students by the State of Berlin and became a student at the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music. She also joined the Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach Music High School, where she continues her academic and musical education.
Anuka Maria has won first prizes at the German national Jugend musiziert music competition in 2016, 2018, and 2019.
She performs on a violoncello of the Viennese School crafted in the 19th century.
