Florence Price and the Black Renaissance
In 2021, Samantha Ege performed and recorded Florence Price’s four Fantasies Nègres for the first time in history. In this program, Samantha features these beautifully Romantic and folk influenced pieces alongside other works from the wider Black Renaissance. The Black Renaissance was an era that unfolded through the first half of the twentieth century and witnessed incredible displays of Black artistic expression. With a program of Price, Margaret Bonds, Betty Jackson King, and the British Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, Samantha presents a recital to invigorate and inspire.
