The young Italian baritone Matteo Pietrapiana is praised for his „amazing vocal ability“, his „power of expression“ and his „remarkable interpretive ability“.

Matteo Pietrapiana started pursuing the arts at a young age, exploring dance, acting, and violin. He graduated with honors in opera singing from the G. Rossini Conservatory in Pesaro.

Having emerged victorious in the 75th edition of the European Community Competition for Young Opera Singers in Spoleto, he actively participated in the subsequent two opera seasons (2021-2022) at the Teatro A. Belli. In these seasons, he made his debut in various roles, such as Junius in Benjamin Britten’s opera The Rape of Lucretia and Leporello in W. A. Mozart’s Don Giovanni.

In the 2022/23 season, Matteo made his debut at the Guerrieri Theatre in Matera and the Mercadante Theatre in Altamura. He took on the roles of Dulcamara in G. Donizzetti’s L’Elisir D’Amore and Adriano Olivetti in the premiere performance of the contemporary opera Don Carlo Levi by Nicola Samale.

In February 2023, he was chosen as one of twelve students at the esteemed Academia Verdiana at the Teatro Regio di Parma. The program culminated in a Gala Concert at the Teatro Regio on October 16, 2023, marking the conclusion of the Verdi Festival. During this event, he performed the aria „Di Provenza“ from G. Verdi’s opera La Traviata, alongside renowned Verdi interpreters Michele Pertusi and Anna Pirozzi.

Upon completing the academy, Matteo Pietrapiana initiated a professional collaboration with the Teatro Regio di Parma, taking part in subsequent productions of Il Barbiere di Siviglia and L’elisir d’amore during the 2024 season, covering the roles of Figaro and Belcore.

In August 2023, he was awarded the third prize at the 3rd International Competition of Opera Singing ‚Piero Cappuccilli,‘ showcasing his interpretation of the arias „Largo al Factotum“ from G. Rossini’s Barberiere and „Per me giunto“ from Verdi’s Don Carlo.

In November 2023, he made his debut as Germont in the opera La Traviata by G. Verdi, participating in several evenings organized by the associations Smart Opera, Opera Tamagno, and Casa Fools in the city of Turin.
