“With his beautiful, deep, and particularly intense bass-baritone, Minsoo Ahn is an ideal choice for both the roles of Don Giovanni and Leporello,” wrote IOCO culture magazine in May 2021 about his performances of these iconic Mozart roles in Vienna, Austria.

The Vienna-based Korean baritone Minsoo Ahn has received particularly positive reviews for his performances in Wolfgang Liebhart’s opera Edenarabeske at the international festival for modern music Wien Modern and in Beat Furrer’s opera La Bianca Notte at the contemporary music festival Klangspuren.

Minsoo Ahn has also appeared in various leading roles, including Don Profondo in Rossini’s Il viaggio a Reims at the Vienna Boys’ Choir concert hall MuTh, Nick Shadow in Stravinsky’s The Rake’s Progress at Theater Akzent, Don Alfonso in Mozart’s Così fan tutte at the Vienna Konzerthaus (2016), Figaro in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro at the Vienna Konzerthaus (2017), Regisseur in Wilhelm Grosz’s Achtung, Aufnahme! at ORF Radio Kulturhaus (2018), Leporello in Mozart’s Don Giovanni at Oper in der Krypta in Vienna (2021–2022), First Nazarene in Strauss’s Salome at the Daegu Opera House in South Korea (2023), Alfio and Tonio in Cavalleria Rusticana and Pagliacci at the Moravian Theatre in Olomouc, Czech Republic (2023–2024), and Haly in Rossini’s L’italiana in Algeri at Norrlandsoperan in Umeå, Sweden.

In addition to his opera engagements, Minsoo Ahn has performed as a guest artist at the Wiener Konzerthaus, Odeon Theater in Salzburg, Musikverein Graz, Brucknerhaus in Linz, and in opera projects for the Vienna Philharmonic Summer Academy. He has collaborated with renowned orchestras, including the Janáček Philharmonic Orchestra, Thüringen Philharmonie, Vienna Philharmonic Summer Academy Orchestra, and the Bad Reichenhaller Philharmoniker.

A multiple prizewinner in prestigious competitions, Minsoo Ahn has been awarded at the Fidelio Competition in Vienna, the 16th Osaka International Music Competition (opera category), the International Singing Competition Giangiacomo Guelfi in Bolzano, the International Johannes Brahms Competition in Pörtschach, and the International Singing Competition Gabriela Beňačková in Jihlava, Czech Republic.

Minsoo Ahn is scheduled to make his role debut as Scarpia in Puccini’s Tosca in Olomouc during the 2025–2026 season. That same season, he will debut as the Dutchman (Der fliegende Holländer) at the Salzburger Landestheater.
