The year 2022 marks a significant change in Elisaveta Blumina’s musical career: at the invitation of the Robert Schumann Philharmonie Chemnitz, she conducted a CD production of works by Georgian composer Gija Kancheli in Chemnitz. The CD under the label Capriccio will be released in September 2023.
As a student at the prestigious St. Petersburg Conservatory, Elisaveta not only studied piano performance but also attended the conducting class of Ilja Musin. She later received further impulses as a conductor from Vladimir Jurowski, Vag Papian, Vitali Akseneenok, and Catherine Larsen-Maguire.
Her love of chamber music led her to conduct chamber ensembles from an early age. She gained her first experience as a conductor with the chamber orchestra of the „Tzfat Music Festival“ in Israel and the string ensemble of the Saxon State Orchestra at the International Shostakovich Days Gohrisch. Conducting from the piano, she has appeared with the Staatskapelle Halle, the Robert Schumann Philharmonic Chemnitz, and the National Symphony Orchestra in Dublin, among others. In Droheda, Ireland, she performed and conducted a world premiere by New York composer John Zorn. In the coming seasons Elisaveta will conduct the Brandenburg State Orchestra in Frankfurt, the Robert Schumann Philharmonic in Chemnitz, as well as several chamber orchestras and chamber ensembles.
An important part of Elisaveta’s work is supporting and promoting young musicians. She initiated the association „Berliner Entdeckungen“ and founded the „Young Ensemble of the Hamburg Chamber Music Festival International“. As artistic director of the festival, she brings together international competition prize winners in collaboration with the Orchestra Academy of the Staatskapelle Berlin and the two major Berlin music academies. Upcoming concerts with the ensemble include performances at the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg under the direction of Elisaveta Blumina.
